Social Media Marketing

Social Media Isn’t Working?

Many businesses, organizations (churches) and artists are aware of the importance of social media, whether that is Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, YouTube or . . . The unfortunate thing is far too many are not seeing any results from Social Media, if that is selling a product or service or getting “butts in seats” as many churches refer to it.

Here are a few common problems that might need addressing:

  • You missed the first half of Social Media – This type of platform is SOCIAL. It’s not a monologue. It isn’t a blog or website. It is social. You need to respond and dialogue with your visitors. I know, sounds a bit crazy, a bit too much work.
  • You missed the goal of Social Media – Other than individuals, social media has a goal other than “here’s what I’m doing right now.” Really? What is that? Here are some of the common goals I hear. “I was to sell my product”, “I want to book more clients”, and “I want more people to visit my church or business.” All great goals but not the function of social media. For businesses and organizations, the goal is to drive people to your website. Doing or soliciting business on social media is like going to a party and handing out business cards. Wrong place, wrong time.

Social Media MarketingIt all sounds so simple, right?

Creating content, managing what to post and when to post it, responding quickly to visitors – these are all things that take expertise and time.

Website Traffic

Waiting On Traffic For Your Website?

Are you waiting on traffic for your website, wondering where are the visitors are? The reasons are multifaceted, as is the solution.  By breaking the issue down to bit-sized tidbits, we can better identify the solutions.

You already have a website

Ask yourself the following questions:

  1. How Old Is It?  The age of your website can affect your traffic.  Why?  Well, one reason is SEO or Search Engine Optimization.  This is a very fluid field.  How Search Engines index websites is constantly changing.  So, if your website is too old, the Search Engines may be overlooking your website, thus, it’s not generating any traffic.
  2. Is Your Website Optimized for SEO?  SEO is a buzzword thrown about a little too much.  Many believe it’s as simple as putting in a few key words.  Not so.  If it were that simple corporations wouldn’t be spending stupid amounts of money on SEO.
  3. How Often Is Your Website Updated?  A static website is not going to be getting traffic.  It’s like someone sleeping, you’re not going to disturb them.  You’re going to move on to someone that is awake.  So it is with Search Engines and visitors.  If there’s not consistent and new content on your website the people and the Search Engines won’t come to visit.
  4. How Integrated Is Your Website with Social Media?  Most businesses and organization completely miss the bus when it comes to Social Media. The types of posts, frequency, on which platforms, etc., are all important considerations.  Again, far too many people think it’s an easy process and when it doesn’t work they give up on it entirely.

Millennials

Millennials, You Are Not That Special

The image above is one slide (Millennials, You Are Not That Special) from the slide show “Top 10 Marketing Trends For 2016“. You may not agree but you should, at the very least.  Take a look.

Here is an excerpt from the article/slideshow written by Mercedes M. Cardona.

The combination of a U.S. presidential election and Summer Olympics is bound to make 2016 a bounteous year for marketers and media. But from ad blockers and hackers to health nuts and political zanies, it won’t be without its challenges.

MillisAccording to Zenith Optimedia’s annual forecast, global ad spend growth will rise from 4% in 2015 to 5% in 2016, thanks to the games in Rio and the November election in the U.S.

“2016 is the kind of year that makes me glad that I have a DVR. There will be an ungodly amount of political ads and product placement/sentimental patriotism ads for the Olympics,” said Todd Cameron, head of content and strategy at TapInfluence, a marketing automation company. “I would love to see some new creative applications, but I fear it will be more of the same.”

As far as new applications, 2016 will be the year when mobile advertising overtakes ad spending on newspapers; mobile will grow to 12.4% of global ad spend, while newspapers shrink to 11.9%, according to Zenith Optimedia’s forecast. Based on the growth of digital advertising, Zenith is predicting that Internet ads will outpace spending on television by 2018. [Top 10 Marketing Trends For 2016]

BOSS Postcard Design

Fundraising Postcard

We are in the initial stages of creating a postcard for a fundraiser to raise money for the award winning BOSS Marching Band to fly to Hawaii for numerous performances, including Pearl Harbor.

As you can image, flying over 200 people to Hawaii is no small feat.  In years past, these postcards have proven to be a valuable and successful marketing tool.  Goes to show that print marketing is not dead, despite what some may say.

All the photographs were taken by 3 Penguins Photography at different events throughout the year. We designed the vintage’esque center image to have the look and feel of an authentic postcard.

SEO Drive Traffic

How Do I Get More Traffic?

SEO Drive Traffic“How do I get more traffic” to my website, blog, or other social media page, is probably one of the most common questions I receive.

To be perfectly honest, a vast majority of these people want, and expect, a quick, DIY solution. But there isn’t such a thing. It’s complicated, fluid and time consuming. The vast majority of successful websites, blogs and social media profiles have either full-time, on-staff professionals or hire outside firms, like 3 Penguins Design, to employee hundreds of different techniques to drive traffic to it’s intended destination. It truly isn’t a DIY action.

A frequent mistake is to assume that online marketing, SEO, SEM, etc., is a science. It’s not. It’s a art. Search engines constantly change their rules of engagement. What worked yesterday may not work tomorrow. It’s is definitely not and BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME type of thing.

What I mean is, it’s not like a car where you build it and drive it. With online marketing you are constantly modifying, changing, trying new things and discarding those that don’t work.

Here are a few things that we consider with every client:

  • Content, Content, Contect
  • Enhance with Multimedia
  • Be Social
  • Link Building – Guest Posting
  • SEO (search engine optimization)
  • E-books and Freebies
  • Offline Ideas

You are the expert in your field. We are the experts in our field. Together we can grow your traffic.

SEM-SEO

SEM (Search Engine Marketing) is not SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

There is a very common misconception that SEM (Search Engine Marketing) and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) are interchangeable terms, that they are the same thing.

More accurately, SEO can fall under SEM. Both are tools for gaining traffic from search engines.

In the simplest of terms (because the process is not as easy as one may think) SEO is optimizing the the content and meta data of a website to boost search engine ranking in an organic manner.

SEM, on the other hand, encompasses other tools including paid tools such as Google AdWords and PPC (Pay-Per-Click) advertising. This, if done incorrectly can quickly become very expensive without getting the desired results. On the other hand, it can be a powerful tool in the hands of an expert.

Caveat – if you get a call or email from anyone claiming to GUARANTEE top Google ranking – RUN!
