Build it and they may come

Marketing is not a four-letter world

website designIn the multitude of churches that I've had the pleasure of visiting over these many decades, there still exists a mind-set of "build it and they will come". We know we have to have a website but there is no maintenance of it nor a strategic plan to use this medium as a tool for the kingdom.

Right now we are living in a world of 'social media", i.e. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Fickr, Digg, Stumble Upon and many more. There's also some newcomers like Foursquare, Google Buzz, Loopt, etc. Whether or not you agree with "socializing" on the Internet, the reality is that it is what people are doing. So, if you want to effectivitly communicate you must purposely engage with this medium.

I believe that a church website should serve the following groups: Your current attendees and perspective attendees (which can be broken out into two more groups - believers and non-believers).

All three of these groups come to your website for differing reason and unless you are intentionally addressing those reasons, you’re not getting maximum benefit for your website. WE CAN HELP!

The in's and out's of the building

Comfortable and inviting

full srviceWe have all heard the term "curb appeal" in regards to houses. If you are selling or buying a home, the curb appeal is really important.

If you go into the house and there is no furniture or it's bland or messy or the layout just doesn't make sense, you turn around and leave.

Well folks, the same is true with a church. A church must have some sort of curb appeal. Stand across the street and honestly ask yourself, "if I drove by, would I notice this building? If I did notice it, would I go in?"

Now, go inside. Would a visitor look at the interior and have good, indifferent or bad thoughts?

What about your 'graphic' presences? I referring to posters, banners, what's on the IMAG video display, the background graphics on your verses and song lyrics, the bulletin, brochures, etc. WE CAN HELP!
